The world is becoming increasingly unrealistic in it's expectations. People whinge and whine, shout and scream about things not being fair. Sure, there are a lot of things in life that aren't quite running the way they should be, but the latest in a long line of ill-conceived attacks on the system in which we exist is quite priceless. Apparently, people are upset that they aren't getting the NHS treatment they feel they deserve.

Not getting (free) NHS treatment as and when you want it? It's not fair!

Firstly, let's be clear that we live in a nation of shameless hypochondriacs. We overload the government provided health system with an increasingly absurd number of of non-existant complaints. It was recently revealed that allergies, for example, were completely unheard of as recently as a few hundred years ago. Today, the entire populace is awash with an inability to breath in a room with cat-hair on the carpet, or eat meat. The ability to do both of which is built into our genetic design - our very DNA.

Apparently, we 'assume' these phantom afflictions as an indicator of status. With an allergy, you can say you're not ordinary. With an allergy, you can make a fuss and demand the vegetarian option, or have the pets removed from view. With an allergy, you're special.

With an allergy, you're a pain in the fucking arse. The simply deduced fact that the overwhelming majority of allergies are either psychological or completely fictitious is made all the more obvious that they are almost without exception easily cured by taking any of the random placebos listed under 'anti-histamines' in the chemist. That is, for those of us that are not allergic to anti-histamines.

So excuse me if I have no time, and less sympathy, for any idiot who'll cry foul that they get sniffy and puffy-eyed when exposed to air with too much oxygen in it, then goes on to whinge that the NHS is short of the adequate resources to then go on to cure every other disease that comes their way - fictitious or otherwise.

Me? I'm not allergic to anything. I'm constantly perplexed that everyone around me is constantly suffering from something. We either have, as I have stated (and firmly believe), a serious problem with the psychology of the nation, or else the human gene pool is so completely fucked beyond recognition that we might as well slash our wrists now rather than risk passing our malfunctioning DNA down another generation.

Ive been a closet skeptic of allergies for years (not counting the really real ones that can kill, of course) and have seen people use their self-diagnosed allergies as an excuse to demoralize other co-workers they just dont like- be it their perfume, second-hand smoke, leather shoes, etc. If thats the case, Im allergic to religious zealots and the smell of shit. Touch!
