More Ranting

I read something today that basically implied that all potential anti-social behaviour (even genetic) can be eliminated through good parenting.

We have kids running around, hanging around, breaking stuff, hurting people and getting pregnant. We acknowledge that there is a problem, yet insist on squabbling over non-issues such as 'the right' to slap your child, and other such nonsense.

Politics isn't the problem with this country. People are. You know the type. Can't bring up a child without it turning into hyperactive, aggressive delinquent, whinge about the current government, but struggle to name a single policy held by the administration that preceded it, desperately clinging onto so called rights that empower them with more than they can be trusted with and pay more attention to which big brother contestant they're voting for than they do for their political representatives, thus willingly continuing to allow their dissatisfaction with life in general to continue without challenge.

Sure, the current political system looks like it's always a case of picking the lesser of the available evils, but the system is geared towards the political ignorance of the rapidly growing mass on unconcerned vote-enabled apathists. Look how big Tony's smile is. Prize-winner that is, and indeed it's kept him in office for the last 7 years.

Voting Liberals won't change anything, because ultimately, the party is geared on the understanding that the public will not, under any circumstances, react with enough mass, enough vigour and enough purpose to ever make a difference. We all want to think that things should be different, and that 'somebody should change it all' without ever having to shoulder the burden of that responsibility ourselves. It's pathetic. All I ever hear is whingings and whinings about insufficient policies, inadequate public responses and outrageously over-pc rulings and lawmaking. I hear it all the time. But what I don't see is people getting off their lazy fat backsides and striving to make the difference they so desire. Such a pathetic bunch of wasters are we, that we experience this adversity, and we soak it all up like a bunch of living, breathing, masochistic sponges.

I laugh heartily at the people of this country. I laugh at their lack of conviction. Their lack of courage. I laugh at the big, fat yellow stripe that lines the spine of each and every one of them.

Life is shit, we all know that. But because we're all so unwilling to do anything about it bar 'contraversially' vote in small numbers for the third runners ultimately means that life is going to slowly get shitter in perpetuity.
