Cause and Consequence

Am I the only one who feels the frustration of a world of people who don't look past the front cover? People on read headlines these days. They're just not interested in the whys and wherefores. Something happens, and they generate a reaction based solely on that event, rather than on the events and instances which caused it.

Take for example the recent Chechan killings in a Russian school. As soon as people see headlines about armed men and women ending the lives of innocent schoolkids, they summon up a frothing rage of righteous indignation and get out their pitchforks. This is completely unacceptable.

All one has to do to get a balanced view is to google for the history of Chechnya. I found this in less than 30 seconds. It's not exhaustive, but it paints a picture for you. Certainly a more complete picture than that given by the tabloid press, which probably revels in its role as the recruitment office for the war on terror / government / sensibility.

Why is it so hard for people to look at both sides? Why can't people understand that nothing happens for no reason whatesoever. People seem to think that these Chechans woke up one morning and decided hey, let's go into Russia, where we'll be in constant fear for our lives, kidnap some schoolkids, which will bring international layman disdain, off a few of them, which will undoubtebly get us killed in reaction, and party on down in whatever religiously promised paradise we find ourselves in.

Needless to say, this opinion lacks objectivity, reason and any sound basis in fact. I can see that, why can't you?
