Religion is Gay!

It's no wonder the world is such a fucked up place when I find myself reading about the Anglican church arguing amongst itself because of one of its own Bishops. The whole episode apparently threatens to break the church in half. What great force, I hear you mumble, could so damage the supposed House of God? What unnamed evil could surround this one Bishop with such ferocity as to have a global religious impact?

The answer is as simple as it is stupid. The Bishop in question is gay. A homosexual man. I do love the sheer degree of hypocrisy this debate kicks up. Now, I'm no religious man, but I've some small idea as to what these religions are supposed to promote. The religion of the one God, Christianity, is supposed to be about the loving God. The God who loves and cares for all living creatures. The God that will forgive you if you only repent your greatest sins. Murder, rape, kill, blaspheme. Say the word and clemency will be given. Unless, of course, you happen to like bum-sex with other men.

In this instance, you must denounce your sinful lasciviousness. Your abominable carnal cravings. Your demonic, unnatural sexual perversion. There is no room in God's all forgiving eyes for those that don't like to make babies in the way He designed us to. Modern society, however, is much more lenient in this particular matter. Sure, even in today's super-pc world, there is room to mock and ridicule homosexuality (unless it's lesbians, in which case most people seem to view it as more of a blessing than a curse, and I would be interested to hear the UK Anglican Church's view on this particular subject), but would you deny a gay man a job on the basis of his sexual preference, rather than his ability or lack thereof to do the job? I shouldn't expect so. It wouldn't cross my mind, and if it did, chances are it's illegal to do so anyway.

So we see that society is more in touch with the world in which we live (surprisingly enough) than a 2,000 year old book on how one should conduct one's life. A philosophy, nay, a dictation clearly designed to give direction to people without the mod cons we surround ourselves with today. What I'm trying to say I think, is that this very argument itself is pinpointing the fact that the bigoted teachings of the Christian bible, in whatever form, are not relevant to modern society.

Although there is a flip side to this particular issue, and I would be foolish to ignore it. If the bible teaches us that homosexual men cannot be a part of the clergy, why is this man a part of it in the first place? Surely his very existence is a lie, as his day job consists of worshipping a deity that despises him, and will see him burn in hell? I have to say that this man's actions in choosing such a career are extremely suspect, as he apears to be living in deliberate defiance of a religion to which he has devoted his life.

Of course, it's not black and white. It never is. Why does God hate homosexuals? Why don't we, as a predominantly Christian people, not universally hate them also? Why does such a man fly in the face of all sense and reason and give his name to a cause which clearly denounces him for living in sin? Why do we even care what the Bible or its endless derivatives think? Why can't we all just get along?

i agree with you to a point on this. i agree that the teachings of christianity say that god forgives those who seek his forgiveness, and condemns those who don't. the religion itself is not flawed, is not hypocritical or racist or sexist or biased in anyway, especially towards gays. it's the Humans behind the religion that are. the christian faith can be summed up in the ten commandments. and one says to love everyone. not, "Love your neighbor that doesn't stick his penis in another person's ass." the most holy bible. the book that is said to contain the word of god is a lie. i agree with this because it contains the words and diction of men not god. and it was those authors who were the hyporcrits, the racists, the sexists, the gay bashers. they were the ones that interpreted how god wanted us to behave. Christianity in theory is a perfect religion just as Communism in theory is a perfect way of life. but neither one has ever been inacted the way it should be in order to achieve the perfection. the clergy of the christian religions are just self-apointed religious dictators that command their ignorant followers to live the way that the clergy wants them to live according to another MAN's decrees based on HIS interpretations of what god's message is. the simple point. blame the men behind the curtains that are pulling the strings, not the puppet that represents religion that is made to dance and flop around........... or maybe i misunderstood what aspect of the religion you were attacking. if so then ignore what i said and have a good day.

I understand this issue. The way people think about their religious society is more about how the public displays them. There is no actual documentation to these theories.Man is totally blind by what they can not see.
