What about you

What did you do today? What action did you take to make the world a better place? What time did you take from your hectic life to ease poverty, feed the hungry, preserve wildlife, reduce dependency on fossil fuels or otherwise repair the Earth's failing ecosystem?

What steps have you taken, today, to address whatever issues gall you on a daily basis? How much effort have you given to addressing the problems in front of you to at least try to change the course of the future?

Consider the answers you produce to these questions as you lay in bed tonight. Consider the implications of your apathy and inactivity. Because you're not doing anything, does that mean that the problems aren't getting worse. Just because you can sleep, does not mean that the destruction of rainforests, the relentless harvesting of the oceans and the ongoing rape of the planet's natural infrastructure pause until the next morning.

If you disagree with something, hate something, but do nothing to change it, do you still retain the right to disagree with it?

Isn't it about time we all did something? The world will not change of its own accord. If we want a better world for ourselves, and for our successors, then we cannot afford the collective apathy and indifference that currently rules our inaction.

Try making one small change. One small alteration to your life. Use less energy, only buy food you're actually likely to eat. Give a little money to a charity you believe in, a charity you feel will deliver an improved world, however small the change.

Make a difference.

What did you do?

Hi Lauren. In answer to your question, I donated some spare cash to the Shareholders United Phoenix fund. It's a fund dedicated to ousting Malcolm Glazer from Manchester United, as he threatens to ruin the game. Also, as it's that time of year again, I'm preparing to send a letter to the Norwegian and Japanese governments with regards to Whale hunting, and will probably give some money to Greenpeace as well while I'm at it. It's not much, but if more people did it, it would count for so much more. Apathy is the enemy of both society and the environment.
